Oregon Birthday Trip - Day 5

The Saturday of our trip, the boys went to town and bought a couple kites!  My dad really wanted to fly kites with Luke, so here we are - definitely good kite weather.

The kite handle was tied to Luke's belt loop, so he wouldn't accidentally let go of it.  :P

When I came back to the beach after putting Jonathan down for a nap (don't worry, some of our group were hanging out at the house, so he wasn't alone!), Nathan and Luke had built a sea fort!

Oregon Birthday Trip - Day 4

The first morning we had at the beach, we all headed down to enjoy the water.  We were blessed by AMAZING weather the first several days we were there!  Nice blue skies and not much wind.  Just perfect!  Here's Luke chasing the waves with Daddy.

I dipped Jonathan's toes in the water since it would be a crying shame to go to the beach for the first time and not actually touch the ocean.  Needless to say (and not too surprising), he quickly pulled his feet up out of the water - too cold!!!

Heidi took a great shot of me lifting up Jonathan in the air while she still had my camera.  It reminds me of the "Mother's Bliss" cross stitch that I made and is now on the wall in Jonathan's room.  :)

Oregon Birthday Trip - Day 2

This year, my dad turned 60!  His birthday request was for all his kids (and their families) to be together at a house on the beach.  So, we flew up to Oregon in the middle of July to have us some birthday family time!  Here's Jonathan clapping at Grandpa & Grandma's house (we stayed there a handful of days before and after the actual time at the beach house).  Jonathan had just learned how to clap, so it was still an exciting novelty while we were in Oregon, and would clap at the slightest provocation - so fun!  Here's a video of him a few days into our trip clapping better.

Luke enjoying all of Grandma's toys!  He especially enjoys the "eye cars" - the Chevron cars that have eyes instead of headlights.

We went miniature golfing on this first full day in Oregon (the day we arrived, I apparently didn't take any pictures) - Jonathan was MAD at the thought of sleeping in the stroller, so we passed him around for awhile, taking turns golfing.  Such a sad little boy.  :(

Thankfully, he eventually got tired enough to stop fighting and took a short nap in his stroller - sweet relief (for all of us!).

Luke golfing - he kind of got tired of it after 9 holes, but he had fun.  It had been awhile since he'd tried it before, so it was nice to let him practice again.  :)

Random Joy

Usually so happy to see me when I go get him up from a nap!

First time taking a bath together in the big tub!  I'm not usually a "bath pictures" person, but every once in awhile, a milestone like this will call for a nice, modest capture of the moment.  :)

Luke was exhausted and his bad attitude had earned him a quiet time during the last daytime feeding of Jonathan.  When I went in to tell him he could come out, this is what I found - guess he needed a little rest!

Happy in the swings at the park.  Luke is really too big for these baby swings, but I still let him every once in awhile.  :P

Sunburn!  Poor Jonathan got a sunburn at the park on a cloudy day.  :(  But at least he's smiling while being held by Uncle Matt - that's progress.  :)

Luke likes to place himself in the path of Jonathan's arms and legs in an attempt to play with him.  Kind of silly, but Jonathan thinks it's fun!

We finally had extra time during our weekly shopping trip, so Luke finally got to ride this fire truck outside RiteAid.  I didn't put any money in, but he still enjoys riding it.  :)

Learning how to use his kid knives.  He is very excited to be a big boy and use knives like we do.

Great Photo-Op

I realized I had not taken any "nice" pictures of Luke for his 4th birthday, so a week later when I noticed that both Luke and Jonathan were wearing orange shirts and navy shorts (Luke picks out his own clothes, so this really wasn't planned!), I thought it would make a nice photo opportunity.  Boy, did it!  I LOVE how these pictures turned out.

I especially love how you can really see the difference in their eye colors.  Luke's are dark blue-gray, just like mine, while Jonathan's are a much brighter blue, more like Nathan's.  :)

9 Month Check-Up

Jonathan's appointment ended up being about 2 weeks later than he turned 9 months, but here are his pictures & stats!  He was 28" (40th percentile), 17lbs, 15oz (10th percentile), and 46.5cm head (80th percentile).  He's our little guy!  Interestingly, his stats are almost identical to Nathan's 9 month baby stats, whereas Luke's 9 month stats are almost identical to my 9 month baby stats.  So, Luke has more Maloney in his physical stature, while Jonathan is more Hughes.  :)
