Trying to teach Luke how to hold his cards in his hand (instead of laying them out on the table in front of him).  He can hold them temporarily, but can't add and subtract cards to his hand without getting them all messed up, so he still plays his card games with them on the table.

Luke wanted to make "houses" for all of his people toys - various Lego men, a Lego cat, some Little People characters, Army men, and even a Batman toy from a cereal box - all received a house build from Legos or Trio blocks.  I helped him make most of these, and some of them have roommates because we ran out of blocks, but it was fun to work together and get creative to create inclosures that would work for his guys.  :)

Nathan's birthday cookie!  I didn't want to make an entire cake to just eat at home, so I put a candle in one of my homemade chocolate chip cookies and we sang to Nathan with that.  I made a cake the next day to take to family dinner for everyone to help eat.

Luke was SO excited to help Daddy open presents - his expressions in these pictures are so sweet and sincere.  Luke thought of and picked out the hat all by himself - he really wanted to get Daddy a hat.  I also dressed Luke in a "Daddy-like" shirt that day, so they're kind of matching, too.  ;)

Blocks Happy

Luke got out these blocks after a long time of not playing with them.  They are a little harder to click together than traditional Legos are, so he has a harder time using them.  When I came in after his quiet time to find him with this structure, I was super proud of his accomplishment and took a picture and everything.  Come to find out, the main building had already been built and was put away intact from last time - he just added the sticks and flags on the top this time.  :P  So, not as impressive as I'd first envisioned, but still fun - and I got a great smile out of Luke in this picture.  :)

Memorial Day 2011

I picked up a little trampoline at our Sunday School's garage sale - just the right size for Luke.  :)

We hosted a few people for a Memorial Day BBQ thanks to our backyard where the kiddos can run around.  Here are a couple of cousins playing with Jonathan - he's always a major attraction when he's awake.  :)

The kids ate their food on our kids table outside and had a great time together.  They even decided to start doing "cheers" with their cups - not sure whose idea it was, but it was kind of cute.  :):

Water balloons and various hose/bucket shenanigans reigned for awhile during the heat of the afternoon.  :P  Overall we had a fun time and are thankful for the Lord's provision of a house we can enjoy sharing with friends and family.

Last Week of May

Here's a few random shots from the end of May.  Jonathan's such a happy guy!

Luke dancing or something to a show on TV - very fun to watch HIM interact with the shows.  :)

Jonathan's shade tree - this is my go-to spot for him to hang out.  I think this was the day when I sat him here with a few toys and was able to weed my herb garden for about 20 minutes without him complaining at all.  (These days, he'll start eating grass long before the 20 minute mark, but it was fun while it lasted.)

8 Months Old!

Our little Jonathan keeps getting bigger!  May 24th, he was 8 months old!  I got some pretty cute shots of him outside.  At first, he was pretty indifferent to the whole photo shoot thing and was NOT interested in smiling.  Then, I had Luke go bring out "squeaky kitty" (a stuffed kitty with a squeaker inside) and had him squeak it behind me - worked like a charm!

May 21st, we celebrated the wedding of Nathan's long-time friend, Brian, and his new wife, Kat!  Congratulations!!!

Nathan was one of the groomsmen, and I tried to dress in coordinating colors, too, so here's a nice picture of us looking all dressed up.  (Note the earrings you got me, Heidi!)

Their reception theme was PacMan, so the cake and ice sculpture were done for that.  Also, every table had a picture of a movie with a quote, and the guests' place cards just had the quote on them - so people had to know the quote to be able to find their table.  :)  The legos and Coke bottles were also a fun touch.

Kat sang a song to Brian.

And here's proof that Brian danced and enjoyed it!  :)  Nathan and I danced once during a slow dance for married couples - and I think it was our first dance ever - kinda nice.  :)
