Life Changes

Well, I figured I should write an entry for two reasons: 1) I haven't written in a while, and 2) I will be going on vacation soon and won't be able to write for another while. :)

I started working part time this week at my job. I am now the Event Coordinator instead of the Office Manager. This change should be good for all involved. The OM position just wasn't the best fit for me and was the cause of much stress in my life. Now, I will be home more and will have a job that utilizes my strengths better. Since I'll be home more, I am taking on more alterations and sewing projects to make up for the difference in income. I have already completed several projects this month since I made the decision to take this new position. I take that as confirmation from the Lord that this is indeed where He wants me at this point in my life.

An additional confirmation of the Lord's leading, is Nathan getting a long-awaited and much-deserved promotion at work! The increase in his income is just about the same as what I will be losing at my job - so it evens out. :) His promotion went into effect the very day I started working part time. I will still do sewing on the side for saving and paying things off quicker.

Our upcoming vacation is also keeping me busy. We are headed to Hume Lake where Nathan's family has rented a house. We will be staying there for a week and taking day trips to King's Canyon and Sequoia as well as the lake. Nathan's parents and two of his siblings and their families will be coming, so we are sure to have lots of fun! We are in charge of cooking for the night when everyone will be at dinner - 12 people! (There's actually 13, but the youngest doesn't eat food yet - he's 3 months old.) So, my next blog entry will most likely have some pictures of our time away. We got a fishing license, so I hope to catch something "this big!" Just kidding. I caught my first fish ever last summer when we went backpacking. Very fun.

Happy 4th!

We had a fun 4th of July this year! We got together with all of Nathan's immediate family and their families - we're 16 people strong now! It was really enjoyable to be all together - it was the first time all 6 cousins have been together at once... picture opportunity!!! :)

Life in general has been busy for me. I'm transitioning into a different position at work that will be half the hours that I currently have. That will be great for my stress level and getting more time to work at home. I haven't officially made the swap yet as there are still some things that I may need to keep doing until they can find a replacement for my old position. But, I have started to gather work for taking on alterations as a source of income from home to supplement the decrease in income from work. I have a couple of jobs I am currently working on, so finding time to do those with still working full time and having fun with Nathan's family after work is a little tricky. :)

But, God is providing. I can see Him affirming the decision to accept the new position by providing work and interest on several fronts for my alterations services. I am thankful for His guidance and for my wonderful husband, who is incredibly encouraging, insightful and supportive. :)
